Ingrid and I spent a weekend in Poland recently. Well, Im there often in connection with my work, and she came down to visit me one weekend. I have updated the photo gallery with some photos from Gdansk and areas around Gdansk.
Sometimes I think of the recent history of Gdansk, and it feels a bit strange being there. It was the birthplace of the Solidarity movement, which eventually lead to the Eastern Bloc's effectual dismantling, and contributed to the collapse of the Soviet Union and the end of the cold war, in the early 1990s.
